The Primary Goal is Movement: Assessing and understanding the visual, vestibular and proprioceptive systems

The brain uses vision, the vestibular system and proprioception (VVP) to build 3D sensory maps of the body and environment. These maps are the basis of mobility and stability, controlling muscle tone, curvature of the spine and posturing of the joints. Before we can treat effectively, we need to be able to asses effectively. This seminar is focused on how to assess the VVP system and understand what the findings mean with regards to movement, balance and posture.

This course is highly practical, focusing on how to use the information taught with real patients. You will learn how to perform a complete neurology examination and what the results mean. Small groups sizes help me to better serve you but tailoring the day to your needs and interests.

Diagnosis of Movement, Balance and Posture: The key causes of pain and dizziness in your clinic

Diagnosis is essential to successful outcomes. In this seminar we focus on the most relevant causes of pain and dizziness in your clinic. Cases that walk through your door everyday. The nervous system controls movement, balance and posture. We will discuss why a patient is experiencing specific symptoms that you hear all the time e.g. “I can’t walk through supermarkets without feeling dizzy and anxious”.

We will learn how to diagnose specific conditions and basics of treatment. This is a great chance to ask questions about challenging cases you have seen.

The Treatment Plan: How to build a rehab program

You know how to read the visual, vestibular and proprioceptive system and you understand differential diagnosis. Now we’ll learn how to build a comprehensive treatment program. How to create a plan that is specific to your patient’s needs and values. A plan that is flexible, cost effective and realistic. One that builds understanding and partnership between you and your patient.

In this seminar I’ll ask you to bring along case presentations. We’ll discuss your challenging cases as a group. Making recommendations on how to improve and move forward. This day is all about you and your patients. You’ll walk about with actionable steps for Monday morning.

We’ll go through some of the most common conditions seen in practice and learn how to treat though the neuromusculoskeletal system, using an evidence-based, biopsychosocial model.

The small group sizes hopefully allow the use of your own clinic as the location for the seminar. If there is not enough space, or your clinic is unsuitable, I am able to organise a location for hire. The cost will be added to the price of the seminar.

If you wish to attend a seminar but aren’t able to form a group of sufficient size, please contact me, I may be able to help find a suitable group for you to join.
